Thank You, MAC Cosmetics!
Today is National Lipstick Day! Woo! To celebrate, MAC Cosmetics is giving away a free full size tube of lipstick (while supplies last) to anyone who waits in line. Due to my love for lipstick and my love for MAC, I waited and it was worth it.
To prepare, I read a half dozen articles about the promotion to see what strings were attached. At first glance, there were none to be found. The articles said that any store that carries MAC could participate. They explicitly said ULTA should be participating but I called my local store and it was not partaking. The kind lady that took my call informed me that only Macy's and MAC stores themselves were celebrating National Lipstick Day. Good thing I called ahead or I'd have been severely disappointed.
I called the MAC counter at Nordstrom at Ross Park Mall here in Pittsburgh and they were also a no-go so. Finally, I called Macy's as I was told and thankfully, they said, "yes, we are participating!" Before I parked my car, I circled the lot around Macy's to see if people were queuing up outdoors. Shocked, I saw no line and decided it was best to wait inside. My car was parked around 9:30am with Macy's set to open sharply at 10. There was time to kill so I purchased some Starbucks and around 9:42, with my venti black iced coffee in hand, I joined a crowd of about 20 people lined up outside of Macy's.
I befriended two ladies in line: one was getting lipstick for her granddaughters and the other was at the mall for a massage and simply happened upon the promotion. We chatted as we waited and they asked me questions about MAC and the promotion. I'm certainly not the most knowledge about MAC but it is my favorite lipstick brand because it stays on very well and it does not dry out my lips. I didn't know what colors were to be offered but I knew that customers were going to have a selection of sorts.
Within 10 minutes of the Macy's opening, my new friends and I were at the MAC counter making our selections. We could pick from about 10 different colors. There were blues, purples, greens and browns. I went neutral and opted for Mud Wrestler. I've been wanting another nude to swap out with Velvet Teddy and Liptensity Velvet Almond. I do believe my free tube for National Lipstick Day fits the bill quite nicely!
I could have easily stayed in bed all morning and read since I don't work until the PM shift. However, waking up to go to the mall for a free tube go MAC was well worth my time. It got me up and living life. I met people that I will probably never see again but my 30 minutes with them were great and I am thankful for that. I am also grateful for MAC Cosmetics and its fun promotion!
